Robin Raina Foundation launches RRF Tsunami Relief Fund with a promise to contribute an additional two dollars for every dollar donated to this fund

ATLANTA----December 28, 2004-Robin Raina Foundation (RRF) today announced the launch of a special fundraising initiative that will donate all proceeds to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund in India, towards providing both immediate and long-term solutions for the families and survivors of the Tsunamis.

RRF also announced that it will contribute up to $20,000 from its own funds, by matching an additional two dollars for every dollar donated to the foundation, towards these relief efforts. This would mean that a dollar of donation from a donor would get converted to a $3 donation, because of the additional donation from RRF.

Contributions can be made by sending a check, made payable to "Robin Raina Foundation - Tsunami Relief Fund"

Robin Raina, the RRF Founder said: "This is a tragedy of Hiroshima proportions with 59,100 people already declared dead and close to a million people displaced from their homes. The relief effort required is immediate as the after effects of this tragedy will come out many-fold in terms of starvation, lack of water, cholera, homelessness, burial and cremation efforts etc. Also, there is the need for massive infusion of humanitarian assistance, along with other material aid like aircraft support to ferry equipment to the affected areas to help in search and rescue efforts, as still thousands of people are reported missing and could be possibly alive, fighting for survival."

Robin added: "United Nations has reported that India is one of the worst effected countries with children bearing the largest brunt of the tsunamis. In Tamil Nadu and Andaman alone, the tsunamis resulted in the death of a few thousand children. A huge tragedy like this requires a huge relief effort and all of us as responsible world citizens need to do our bit towards showing our care and feeling of oneness with the survivors of this tragedy, by helping them in their hour of need."

"Majority of the effected families are in the villages, where their per capita income is around $20 per year." Robin said: "I would make a strong appeal to all to contribute towards these relief activities. Every dollar of your contribution will count and will help a fellow human being there, who needs your support."
