As a part of the financial adoption package, RRF has already made payments worth US $ 7000/- to these needy children. This financial adoption package involving a commitment of $35,000 over the next five years, will allow these needy children to pursue higher studies. All these children are in the age group of 15 years to 20 years and are pursuing professional degree courses.

RRF Spokesman Sanjay Supehia said: "The foundation is committed to bringing hope to the lives of the under-privileged children. We believe that helping these children pursue their dreams is a first step towards bringing some normalcy in the families of these children, who are presently living in inhuman conditions in these relief camps."

The foundation also announced that it has set up a separate Kashir-Aid project with Aron Tikkoo as the project coordinator, to help more such Kashmiri children in the months to come. Contributions can be made by sending a check, made payable to "Robin Raina Foundation – Kashir Aid Project".

Background on Jammu relief camps

An early consequence of the rise of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir was the forced migration of thousands of Kashmiris from the Kashmir Valley, beginning 1989. Many Kashmiris, in search of a better future, have moved to different states, cities and towns, while the rest were relocated in camps around Jammu and New Delhi. At present about 200,000 such people still live in abysmal conditions in Jammu with families of five to six people, huddled into a small room, surviving primarily on small government relief of approximately $ 55 per month.
